Job description:
- CompuZign Consulting Inc. is actively seeking a proactive and collaborative Storage Administrator to enhance and maintain our centralized storage platforms. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for configuring, managing, and ensuring the smooth operation of CompuZign IT's extensive storage infrastructure. This includes handling advanced storage systems and utilizing state-of-the-art disaster recovery tools to secure data effectively.
- As a Storage Administrator at CompuZign, you will engage in strategic capacity planning, anticipating future needs, and providing insightful recommendations on the service's direction. You'll work on diverse projects, both independently and as part of a team, showcasing your ability to adapt and innovate in a dynamic environment.
- Additionally, you will have the opportunity to interact with CompuZign's clients, explain technical aspects of our services, respond to queries, and advocate for the adoption of our storage solutions in various stakeholder meetings.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, manage, and monitor data storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage environments.
- Implement and maintain data backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex storage issues, working closely with IT teams to minimize downtime.
- Optimize storage performance and efficiency, by conducting regular system audits and upgrades.
- Collaborate with network administrators and system engineers to ensure seamless integration of storage solutions with other IT infrastructure.
- Develop and document storage policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitor storage capacity, forecasting future needs, and planning for expansion.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including collection and delivery details.
- Understand and troubleshoot the SMB, NFS, and CIFS shares networking protocols including ACLs and NFS permissions.
- Collaborate with units to create and test disaster recovery plans and ensure ransomware resilience
- Create and maintain system documentation of departmental processes, procedures, plans, and configurations
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Strong foundation in storage concepts and technologies
- Familiarity with backup software like Commvault and Crashplan.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Grafana and Nagios.
- Experience with source control software, primarily Git.
- Knowledge of virtualization environments, especially VMware ESXi.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
- Create, modify, and publish end-user knowledge-base articles
- Plan and execute upgrades to customer’s environments outside normal work hours (typically 6-8 AM weekdays - about once a month)
- Communicate with customers to coordinate upgrade times, and provide updates about changes
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, communicate, and resolve service issues and outages
Preferred Experience:
- Proven experience in managing enterprise-level storage environments.
- Familiarity with various storage technologies (e.g., Dell EMC, NetApp, HPE).
- Experience with cloud storage solutions (AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage).
- Knowledge of data replication and synchronization technologies.
- Understanding of file systems, RAID configurations, and storage protocols (iSCSI, NFS, SMB/CIFS)

Job Details, Location & Work Hours:
- On-Site / 9 am to 5 pm (Mon to Fri)
- Collaboration with IT teams and various departments is essential.
- Occasional on-call duties may be required to address urgent system issues.
