Job description:

This pivotal role encompasses the design, implementation, and maintenance of our comprehensive IT infrastructure, crucial for the optimal performance and reliability that underpins our business operations and client services.
  • As an IT Systems Engineer at CompuZign, your responsibilities extend across a range of advanced IT tasks. You'll be instrumental in developing system architectures, fortifying network security, pioneering innovative system upgrades, and tackling complex IT-related challenges. In this role, you will:

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust IT infrastructure and network systems, including servers, storage, and network devices.
  • Conduct thorough system analysis, performance tuning, and capacity planning to support scalable growth and efficient operation.
  • Develop and manage sophisticated backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and security protocols to protect data and IT assets.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate IT systems and facilitate seamless business operations.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex hardware, software, or networking issues.
  • Implement and oversee advanced system monitoring solutions to ensure system health and security.
  • Research and recommend new technologies and tools to enhance IT infrastructure and services.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and protocols.
  • Provide expert guidance and support for IT projects, including planning, execution, and post-implementation review.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide training on new technologies and system management best practices.
  • Tune and design systems infrastructure for maximum available performance.
  • Automation of manual tasks using scripting and application development.
  • Investigate and adopt new technologies/tools as needs arise.
  • Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment.
  • Evaluate, test, and integrate new operating system versions, drivers, and patches.
  • Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, and propose solutions.
  • Provide support to, and coordinate with, developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users.
  • Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in systems engineering or a similar role.
  • Relevant certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network-related fields are desirable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to innovate and adapt in a rapidly evolving tech landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Solid experience coding with any combination of Python, Ruby, Bourne, PowerShell, APIs, and others.
  • Familiarity with git, subversion, foreman, katello, Jenkins, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of multi-tiered, highly available, and resilient application design.
  • Knowledge of horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and stability.
  • Familiarity with low-latency / high-frequency compute environments.
  • Understanding of virtualization and experience with VMWare.
  • Top-tier analytics and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment.
  • Project Management, organization, and time management

Skills & Abilities:

  • Profound knowledge of systems engineering, networking, and IT infrastructure.
  • Expertise in scripting and automation tools (Puppet, Chef, etc.).
  • Strong experience with performance tuning, workload mapping, and capacity planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of complex networking infrastructure, including firewalls, VLANs, and load balancers.
  • Proficiency in managing multi-tenant environments with varying priorities and SLAs.
  • Experience with NoSQL, search technologies, and data storage solutions.
  • Understanding of IT security, performance optimization, and disaster recovery best practices.

Job Type & Salary:

  • Full Time / Salary TBD

Job Details, Location & Work Hours:

  • On-Site / 9 am to 5 pm (Mon to Fri)
  • Essential collaboration with IT teams and various departments.
  • Occasional on-call duties may be required for urgent system issues.
